[Eley is in a thoughtful mood, and when that kind of mood strikes him he starts to question things again... Feelings, usually. Human behaviours too. Today he's realised something and wants to ask the people of Luceti about it. As usual he's sitting on the outskirts of town with his journal on the ground in front of him, pointing up at his face as he looks down.]

Today I come to you with another question. 'Fun' is a concept I have not yet come to understand. As I will need to find ways of occupying myself during my stay in Luceti, I want to ask you all - what do you do for fun?

Perhaps I can give these things a try.

That is a lot to try. Games always seem to be liked by children when they are looking for fun. What exactly is a card or tile game? Can you give an example?

Ah, yes I have heard of the Battledome, though I would prefer not to use it to fight.

I have tried dancing and it was not bad. Games of strategy... what do you mean by that? And what pranks?

I have not been wasting time. I have spent many years fulfilling my purpose as any Spirit should from my world. It is only recently that I began to develop emotion... I want to learn.

I suppose it must be considered strange for someone to have no idea of fun... Having it seems to be an important part of human life.

Goodness, Eleytheria. You...have lead a very sad life if you don't understand fun. It means things that you enjoy.

To answer your question I enjoy playing music, reading, games like go or chess, martial arts, talking to friends...and many, many other things. If you'll remember what I told you before about Seven Perfections? Each one of those things is something I enjoy.

...is it really that sad? I would not have thought so prior to gaining these emotions. Looking back now, all I can say is that I fulfilled the purpose I was born for and rarely strayed from that path. Perhaps it is... somewhat sad.

Regardless, I still wish to learn. As a Spirit who must always be doing and not dwelling, I think it would benefit me to have as many interests as you seem to have.

[He thinks for a while, trying to identify what he might enjoy the most.]

Dancing was not all that bad... I also enjoy talking to those I might consider friends. I have tasted food that pleases me and relaxed to music in the past. Sometimes I play with my powers, testing myself. Learning is also enjoyable to me. Can that also be fun?

[Eley doesn't understand fun? That's a bit of a strange question, but in all honesty doesn't really come across as a surprise to Rudy at this point. Unlike the others, he won't comment on that. Instead, he answers honestly.]

Fun, huh... there's a lot of things I can think of. Being with friends, playing games, even exploring can be fun. [Brief pause, as he thinks.] Music too.

But those are just things I like. It's different for everyone, really.

So fun depends on individual preference? I see. Still, it seems that there are some popular activities among the people here. Spending time with friends, reading, playing games and music all seem to be common.

Thinking about it, I was also partial to music in Agkelos. I also spent much of my time wandering the world I took care of.

There are all kinds of things I do for fun, like go on picnics and spend time with my friends and look after the flowers and draw pretty pictures.

Ah yes, I do remember your love of flowers. It is a shame I cannot take the flowers of Agkelos here with me... it would make the place more familiar.

I have established that I enjoy spending time with some people and I also enjoy music, though I am only used to that which is played in Agkelos. However, I am not sure if I can consider them fun or not... I am not sure if I entirely understand the concept.

Man, I had that problem for a while. I mean, I knew what fun was, it was just kind of hard to have it.

You can try writing stuff likes stories or what you're doing here. Maybe try playing an instrument? Or hey, the Battledome's always got some neat things in it.

Hmm, then it is dependent on mood as well? I suppose that makes sense. Humans are never constantly happy.

I have never attempted to write or play music myself, though my people are renowned for being artistic in this way. It is something I will consider. I hear mention of the Battledome quite often as well. Perhaps I should visit and see what I can find.

May I ask about your interests? Do you write yourself, for example?

Well, I think it really depends on your own tastes! But for me, I like exploring, hanging out with friends, and playing the games over at the rec center. They've got loads of cool stuff!

Exploring, playing games and spending time with friends all seem to be common interests among humans. It is interesting to see a pattern emerging... and it is interesting to see that I am starting to realise my own interests at the same time.
