For all of those who may have been concerned, I have returned from the previous mission.

I am well, though I would like to give thanks to those who helped to take care of me during that time. It seems I was not prepared for the strain such extreme conditions would put on this new body of mine. I may not require sustenance in the form of food and water in the safety of the enclosure, but a scorching desert is far more damaging while I am trapped in this form. Next time, I will be more careful.

[Assuming there was a next time... He hoped he wouldn't have to get involved too often, but currently he had more than one reason to push himself.

He pauses, before continuing.]

While I am here, there is... something else I wish to discuss. I am in need of someone with a knowledge of curses. If you are willing, I would be especially grateful to hear from anyone who has suffered from such a thing and been cured of it. If not, any experiences with a curse may be of interest to me. Thank you.

[For anyone who wants to meet/check-in on Eley in person, he will most likely be resting by his tree near Cherry Blossom Tree Hill since... well even though he might not have been involved with the investigations first-hand on the mission, he's still pretty worn out. Later in the day you might find him going for a wander along the river and further into the forest.]

[It was a familiar voice all the same and one he was rather cautious of, especially with that tone. But if he could help... it was a possibility.]

...I require a cure. Or at least a direction to go in to find one. Even if it was not guaranteed, I would still like to pursue it. I know nothing of how to dispel such things myself.

...a god, though not one I was familiar with. It seems it was unleashed at the time of the god's death. It is a darkness that will slowly consume the victim and cause them great pain, especially when under the grip of fear or anger. Once it reaches their wings... they will die.

[Despite how much it hurts to acknowledge this, knowing the individual himself, he manages to keep his voice level and simply spell it out for him.]

No... not me. A friend. I fear that it will soon be too late if I do not manage to find a cure. The curse is starting to consume them.

All I know is that it came from a fallen god. It seems that it causes greater pain when the victim is angry or fearful... but whatever kind of curse it is, it spreads and eventually kills.

I wish to help, but I have little knowledge of such things. I am not sure where to begin.

[Eley is trying to remain calm himself, as difficult as it was the more he spoke about it.]

[Beast attention is immediately drawn to the mention of "curses". Of course, he is cursed, and has been for - how long now? - ... twelve years. His heart sinks a little. But even if he could tell, how could his experience possibly interest this person? (Has he seen him before? Maybe when their wings grew...) Nonetheless, maybe looking at what others say might be able to help him. Or maybe he's just curious.

He ignores Isaac and instinctively freezes upon hearing Saori's voice again... but the conversation between her and... wait a minute... who they're talking about... he can't help but say something now.]

Yes... but we should speak privately if you wish to discuss things. Rudy does not want everyone to now what is happening.

You may not know about the curse itself, but... perhaps you can still help me to gather information. I still wish to learn more about such things if only to avoid being kept in the dark in the future.

[And maybe, if for whatever reason someone else found themselves gripped in a curse, Eley would notice sooner and they wouldn't have to suffer so much...]

If you have not heard of something like this before, does that mean there are no curses in your world?

...I intend to help a friend who is suffering from a curse. As such, I must learn as much as I can about such things so I may find a cure for him. I am afraid I do not know much about them myself.

I have not learned much about curses in general, but it seems that someone is willing to assist. Hopefully it will be enough to cure him... but if not, I hope that it will at least provide him with some comfort.

It is... a lingering curse that causes great pain, especially when fearful or angry. Eventually it will spread to his wings and he will die. Even death cannot free him from its grasp, it seems. He will suffer endlessly until he is rid of it.

[It's clear that just talking about it is filling him with his own sense of suffering, feeling helpless to do anything about it.]

[Well, you learn something new every day. If this really isn't his new form, then it makes sense for there to be strain. Especially in a desert.]

Sorry to hear it got rough, though. I've been in a desert before, and it's no picnic.

[Granted, the Keyblade Graveyard was different than the average desert, but that didn't make it any easier to deal with.]

It seems that way. While I am resistant to most things, even I cannot escape extreme conditions. It is strange to think that before coming here I could pass so freely through both the deserts of Esperando and the frozen wastes of Volante with no ill-consequences...

[He recalls that time he caught a cold here, something else he'd never had to deal with before. He'd have to take more care this year to wrap up warm.]

Humans are very good at adapting though, I have found. How else would they be able to populate such a wide variety of climates?

That's true! Between clothes, inventions, houses, farming... All that stuff can help you survive even in the toughest of climates. Pretty impressive, when you consider how we don't have built-in weapons like claws, fangs, horns, and stuff.

[Granted, Ven's got his Keyblade, which could be seen as 'built in, but that's a special case.]

Someone... [Awkward was right. Of course, her curiosity was nagging at her for not pressing the question, but the whole situation was complicated. If she guessed wrong and told him about that secret when she wasn't supposed to, would she be hated for it? She wasn't sure anymore.]

[While Tear was relieved that Eley had returned safely from the mission, she knew she would have to see him after hearing of the heavy burden so many seemed to bear after they had been forced to make such a sudden decision. That was reason enough to go see him, but then she heard this and couldn't help but worry a bit more.

SO she seeks him out at his tree, mulling over what she knew as well as what he meant by curses. He had said before that he had gone to the mission for the sake of a friend...]
