[Eley is in a thoughtful mood, and when that kind of mood strikes him he starts to question things again... Feelings, usually. Human behaviours too. Today he's realised something and wants to ask the people of Luceti about it. As usual he's sitting on the outskirts of town with his journal on the ground in front of him, pointing up at his face as he looks down.]

Today I come to you with another question. 'Fun' is a concept I have not yet come to understand. As I will need to find ways of occupying myself during my stay in Luceti, I want to ask you all - what do you do for fun?

Perhaps I can give these things a try.

Really? You do not understand 'fun' either? You are the first I have met to say such a thing...

Indeed. However, it seems that my own concept of fun greatly differs from that of my peers...

Hm... could you explain what your concept of fun is to me? Perhaps it is unique to each individual.

[Spock gives the question some consideration before answering....]

'Fun' as human's designate it, could be interpreted in Vulcan society in a situation where one finds satisfaction in an action.
This answer however does not seem to... impress others.

It does not? Your definition seems reasonable to me. I would be inclined to agree with it, at least from what I have seen and learned myself. Or is it that fun and enjoyment are somehow different?

[Spock gives a small sigh... having to contend with his human side has been difficult.]

I believe it is a matter of perception. Most humans have a rather specific definition for 'fun' and what passes for enjoyment.
I have been asked by several Starfleet personnel why I do not tend to laugh.. Vulcan's find it to be an unnecessary exertion of facial muscles. The reactions vary....

I suppose in that case many would argue that smiling is just another use for those muscles, so why not smile? But it is not something I really do myself, so I cannot say for certain.

In truth, my body is formless and invisible usually so I would not have muscles to use in the first place, had I not taken on a more solid form. I have never really thought to smile before...

[Spock considers what was just stated... fascinating.]

May I inquire as to what species you are?

I am a Spirit. The Spirit of Wind to be more exact. While I know the term is used quite broadly throughout the worlds, that is the name used to describe my kind in Aether. I know no other name.

[That definitely gets Spock's attention.]

A spirit? Most fascinating. I have not yet had the opportunity to meet one such as yourself. Do you often take physical form?

[He shakes his head at that.]

I would only rarely take a physical form in my home world. In that case, it was usually the form of a dragon, something that became iconic among the people who worshipped me. I have never taken a more... human form until now. Usually I would communicate by voice alone.

That is.... most intriguing.

I believe I comprehend more why you are having difficulty with the concept of 'fun'... though it is as I said before. 'Fun' is how an individual defines it.
I admit that I find enjoyment from music.

Having thought about it more myself, I also found that I enjoy a few things. Music is one thing, wandering another... I tried dancing more recently and while it was strange at first, it was not that unpleasant. I am sure there are many more activities I could try.

Fascinating... have you tried immersing yourself in literature? Or attempted any of the simulations offered at the Dome?

Hmm, I have not tried either of these. Would you have any recommendations on where to begin?

In your case I would perhaps recommend a simulation. Are you in need of assistance in this endevour?

[He seems a little surprised at the offer.]

Ah, if you would not mind. I am not familiar with these simulations...

Very well. Shall I meet you at the Dome at this time?

[He nods.]

Yes, all right. I will go there and meet you shortly.

Very well. [Spock nods, and the screen goes blank.]

[Spock waits by the entrance of the Dome..]

[Some time later, Eleytheria can be seen coming into view as he approaches the Dome. He'd never really been this close to it before so he takes a moment to look it over before finding Spock waiting by the entrance.

He comes a little closer, though he's still a little awkward when meeting new people.]

Ah... thank you for coming here. What should I call you?

You may call me Spock.

May I inquire as to your own name?

I am Eleytheria. [He pauses.] Though it seems that some have taken to calling me 'Eley' if you would prefer that.

I am ready to enter when you are. I will follow your lead as you seem more familiar with these kinds of machines, unless I am mistaken.

Very well Mister Eleytheria. [Spock is no a 'nick-name' using sort of guy...]

Perhaps we can start with one of the basic target practice simulations. Have you ever used firearms before?

[He has to admit that he's not used to being called 'Mister' and it might surprise him a little bit... but then Spock's suggestion becomes far more interesting to him.]

What exactly is a firearm? I have never heard of such a thing. It sounds... dangerous.
