23 - [Video/Action] // Captain Eley will be piloting your Zuko tonight

[Something rather strange has happened lately and now might just be your time to find out what. The video feed shows a very thoughtful Zuko whose stomach seems to be audibly growling. And yet, the young man seems somehow confused. Almost worried.

Anyone who is human (or a species that generates an appetite) will be able to tell that he's just hungry though. So why wasn't he going to find food?

And why did he speak so formally all of a sudden?]

As you can hear, my stomach appears to be producing some rather... strange noises. In the interest of my health, could someone please tell me why? Is this an illness?

Action

[Anyone who wants to meet this strange Zuko first-hand, either by choice or by accident, can find him at various places throughout the enclosure. Since Eley has missed the relaxed atmosphere and refined taste of the beverages served at the tea house this is one place you'll find him. He'll also be paying visits to the Willow Tree and Shrine and those who live in the Avatar house will probably find him sitting outside late at night, supposedly trying to stay awake...

And if you're lucky (or unlucky) you might find Eley messing around with the whole firebending thing. Unfortunately he doesn't have particularly great control of it and has now set fire to a small isolated bush. Cue panic as he tries to put the thing out!]

(OOC: So upon returning from the mission, Zuko was found dying by Eley and in order to save his life, the Wind Spirit has temporarily merged with Zuko! This means that he can take control at times and the two now communicate telepathically. Expect interjections from

lordhotman during threads in this post!)

...Is it your stomach growling?

It does sound like growling yes but... why then do stomachs growl? How can my own stomach feel threatened by me?

[Okay perhaps taking the word a bit too literally! But then Zuko seems to pause, as if he's just recognised something. A face. A voice.]

Saleh? Is that you?

Ah...a growling stomach is a sign of hunger. You should probably eat something.

[He blinks when the man seems to recognize him, though. He certainly doesn't recognize the man in return.]

...Yes, that is my name. Forgive me, but...have we met before?

I see...

[So this was hunger. But how did he know what to eat? Before, he could eat whatever he wanted with little consequence. The last thing he wanted was to make Zuko's body any worse.

But at Saleh's confusion, it's then that the Spirit within him realises that of course his old friend doesn't recognise him. How could he?]

I apologise. I had never thought that if we were to meet again it would be like this. I am Eleytheria... do you remember me?

Eleytheria...

[The name certainly does ring a bell.]

What happened to you? You look so...different.

Well...

[This was kind of awkward to explain really and he hoped that Saleh would even believe him as he said it.]

This body does not belong to me. It is Zuko you see and not myself. However, he sustained injuries that would have killed him... so I took it upon myself to join with him in order to keep him alive. I am hoping he will heal in due course.

I see...

[It's certainly not the first time he's seen one being possess another.]

Do you think he'll need help with the healing? I still have my staff, after all.

Others had tried to heal him before but... it seemed that he was too close to death for it to work. Since I am supporting him now however, I suppose it would be worth a try.

[Anything that would speed along his recovery would be something Eley would welcome, especially from an old friend.]

[Lord Zuko? No, he'd know what a growling stomach means.]

You're hungry. It's a good idea to get something to eat.

[Oh, as simple as that? Was that really what hunger felt like? It was kind of... uncomfortable. No wonder it spurred people on to find food.]

I see... and how much do I need to eat to know that I am satisfied?

[...Is Princeknight for real? Is this supposed to be some kind of weird joke?

Sophie gives him the flattest of looks.]

You're hungry.

[And Zuko is looking right back, evidently feeling that this revelation requires far more thought than it probably should be someone who... you know, should be eating regularly.]

Hunger is a sensation reminiscent of a growling animal? How strange... But then what should I eat?

[No, Eley, do not ask the six-year-old. This is a very bad plan.]

I dunno. Cookies?

Zuko looks rather curious at that though. Just as if he thought it was actually a very good idea indeed.]

Cookies? I have not made them in quite some time... How many do you feel would be appropriate to make this hunger go away?

[Well, let's see. She always wants more than the two Fen says she can have, and Princeknight is bigger than her, so....]

[It was quite a... specific number, but hey Eley had no idea what was a reasonable amount to eat. So he'll just take her word for it! And besides what was a nutritionally balanced diet, right.]

[After getting back, Sokka is finally spending some time getting some R&R... much deserved relaxation. While he still doesn't quite believe that this world is so different than the one they left just a few months ago, he's taking advantage of the fact that they're not under immediate stress by not hunting for a few days and letting meals be prepared for him.

[And so it happens that Sokka stops by the tea house while Zukeley is there, and upon sighting him, Sokka just swaggers and sits down right next to him. Sokka puts an arm around Zuko's neck and gives him a good green.]

Zuko! How ya doing? Isn't it great to finally be back?

[Eley had taken Zuko over to the tea house for some rest and relaxation himself, so the last thing he expects is Sokka to suddenly appear, an arm flung around his neck. It causes him to nearly choke on the tea he was drinking. Give him a moment to cough it out of his system, Sokka!]

...ugh...please refrain from surprising me like that.

[Oh wait, he asked a question didn't he.]

Zuko is doing well. I am sure he will be fine once he is given time to recuperate.

[Says Zuko... yeah that didn't make much sense, did it?]

[Well, Sokka's greetings have had their moments where they border accosting someone else, but ultimately this one should have been pretty mild... by comparison at least. He's admittedly a little surprised how frazzled a simple manly sidehug could be to him, especially since the new Zuko was more or less the calm Zuko.

[But when Zuko replies........

[...yeaaaaah.]

Uh, Zuko, you okay? You don't sound like yourself. And you're talking about yourself in the third person. That's just... creepy.

[Eley being one who was still getting used to being touched at all, it was a very different picture for the Spirit. Even brief hugs were uncommon for him, though he enjoyed them when they were given... at least by those he knew well.

Hearing Sokka's confusion, it's then the Spirit realises that of course he has no idea who he's actually talking to. Ah, the woes of sharing a body with someone other people knew.]

Forgive me, I should have made myself clear. You are speaking with Eleytheria at present. I... understand this may be hard for you to comprehend, but I am afraid it is necessary for the time being.

[Sorry, Eley. That sounds completely silly and ridiculous.]

Ha ha, good one, Zuko! And I'm secretly the Earth King's pet bear Bosco inside. Come on, you can't fool me on this one. After all, I am quite the actor.

[Sokka emphasizes the final syllable of "actor" and gives it a faux-sophisticated air as if to suggest that he were quite the thespian.]

[An Earth King with a pet bear? He was secretly a bear inside? Really? He's just going to look completely confused at you for a moment Sokka as if he can't actually work out if he's being serious or not.

Yeeep, that just went over his head.]

Perhaps that is why you are so skilled at hunting. Yes, you have the spirit of a bear. It makes sense now.

Ah, but you are also an actor? I have not seen much in the way of theater before.

[Really? REALLY? How more obvious could his sarcasm actually be.

[Ugh. Sokka smacks himself in the forehead and just sighs.]

[Sokka just points as he looks rather shocked and weirded out by the sudden revelation.]

[Of course, the moment he spots Zuko returning home from the mission he will rush to greet him. At least from a distance he can't tell at anything is off with him. He's so happy! History was changed for the better and he has absolutely no mixed feelings about that. Wan does have mixed feelings about not being able to help more, and how his bending is still not back to normal... but that's not something he is going to focus on right now.]

Zuko! You're back!

[If Zukeley doesn't stop him, Wan will go in for an avatar hug. It's tradition.]

[Well Eley's certainly not stopping him, although that might be because he's kind of caught off guard as Wan approaches. And when he receives that hug? He... might be feeling kind of tense about it and seems rather reluctant to give one back. Eley doesn't do hugs very often and doesn't know Wan all that well. Sorry Wan!

Of course, given past experience, Eley is also kind of reluctant to just outright announce that he's currently in command of Zuko's body. So he opts for answering the question and trying to stay inconspicuous... albeit rather badly.]

Ah, yes... yes! It is good to see you again. Is everything well?

I'm fine.

["Zuko's" awkward is making him a little awkward too. Did something bad happen? Is affection weird now? Maybe he should have asked Zuko how he was feeling first?

He shrugs the question off. At least it's only half a lie.]

I... probably should have asked if you wanted a hug first.

[Luckily Wan is good at letting awkward moments go instead of dwelling and keeping them going until they turn into an awkward train wreck ~~unlike Zuko~~. So the transition from "oops" to "genuine concern" doesn't really take any time.]

Are you okay?

[He can't put his finger on it but something about Zuko seemed off. A little more awkward than usual? Kind of nervous? He'll save the "what happened" question for later, because knowing their history outside the barrier it was probably something horrible that nobody would want to talk about.]

[Was he okay? Well... technically Zuko wasn't, or Eley would never have had to merge with him in the first place. Eley was doing just fine, but could he really fool Wan that he was Zuko? He was already evidently concerned... but telling him the truth didn't seem much more of a better option either.

He sighs.]

Yes... but a lot has happened lately. I... simply need rest. Given time, everything will be all right again.

[It's still a lot to take in for the boy - everything being so different from before after a trip into the past. Of course, it didn't stop Rudy from occasionally slipping out in the night to take it all in. Suddenly? Things started feeling a lot more free for the drifter, after two years of being trapped in the same location.

... Well, all that introspection is fine and well, until it's interrupted with a fireball (?!) suddenly coming barrelling towards him.]

W-Whoa!

[That nearly hit him! It would have, but he'd only narrowly dodged it, singing the sleeve of his jacket. He's quick to put it out, his gaze darting to find the source - another guy? Nevermind that, more importantly...! That smells like smoke. That smells like a bush on fire. There would be questions, but there's clearly zero time for them. He turns to the other guy.]

C'mon, we've got to put this out!

[Oh damn, sorry Rudy!! The last thing he wanted to do was hurt anyone... especially him. Then again he didn't really want to set fire to the plant-life around him either.

Zukeley seems to hesitate as he sees the boy, torn between how he should deal with the situation of him sharing a body with someone else and the fact he just set fire to a bush. He soon comes round though and nods to him.]

A-ah yes! The river is not far from here, I will fetch water!

[Be right back, trying to fix his mistake! But... he also has nothing to carry it in.]

...I need some form of container. Do you have anything with you?

[Fortunately, the bush isn't too big enough to the point of spreading quickly, but there's the fact it was still on fire. Even if he had a water container on him for drinking, it wouldn't be enough to contain the fire. Either way, Rudy's tone is alert, forceful as he tries to quickly think up a plan.]

Soak anything you got. Actually... [Quickly, he removes his jacket and hands it out to the guy. It's a winter jacket, so it was definitely heavy enough to soak up water. Forget any comments on the scarring below it - that's not even a concern right now.] Just take this to the river and bring it back! I'll work on containing it.

[Some of the soil nearby seemed to be loose enough, and with Faeren's help he could probably kick up enough dirt to help contain it. Which he wastes no time getting to work on. The bush seemed small enough, but'd be a different story if it were much larger, like a wood or a tree burning out of control.]
