[Whoever's watching the feed right now can probably tell that something's not quite right. Not only does Eley look blackened and sore as if he had been scorched somehow, but the tree behind him also looks as though it has met a similar fate, with shattered branches and charred bark.
And in his hands, he's holding some remnant of what might have been a scarf at one time, though right now it looks like nothing more than a rag.]
Why would anyone do this? How could they... enjoy such a thing?
[He sounds tired, disappointed, though that quickly turns to bitter anger.]
Edmundo the Blade has made an enemy of me. He has shown nothing but disrespect. I should not have let him get this far. If only I was not so complacent, so tied to the path of peace, this would not have happened. My tree...
[Yes, he's more concerned about the tree than he is about himself right now.]
If anyone knows a way to repair the damage, I would be grateful to you.

No... I am not sure.
[Why was this suddenly so confusing for him? Normally he would deny any desire to harm another, let alone kill them. Suddenly everything seemed more personal... he cared about things far more than he realised.
And oddly he feels the need to correct this man even with such invasive thoughts.]
Ah, I am also not a child. My name is Eleytheria. Or... Eley, if it is easier.

Look, wanting revenge is a common first reaction, but it doesn't make things better. [He has a lot to say on that matter. But he can see the hill now, so he snaps the journal closed and approaches the burned tree and injured man.]
Hey, there, Eley. I'm Dr. McCoy. I'll be fixin' you up if you don't mind showing me all the damage done to you? [Doctor mode comes with a decent side of bedside manner.]

The comment ways heavy on Eley's mind. Revenge. It was something he wasn't sure he had recognised before, even during his episode of anger in the past. Perhaps that would be yet another concept he could learn more about. Perhaps... it wasn't worth it.
He'll have to finish pondering about it later though since the man who had been talking to him moments before had finally found the location. As for his wounds... the burns were mostly spread across the front of his body from the sudden burst of fire he'd tried to hop back away from. He makes a note of pointing them out to this... Dr.McCoy, before adding-]
These burns are the most painful, though movement in general seems to aggravate my injuries. I feel... sore and aching all over.
[He honestly has to think about how to describe the pain, having never been hurt in this way before.]

[Yeah, he's easily put together that this Edmundo guy was probably the same asshole who blew a hole in the side of his house.
And if Eley had been part of his crew, there would be a lecture that followed that grumpy question. But he's not, so he'll be spared that tongue lashing.
Instead, he simply picks up his hypo and holds it up.] I can take care of the burns. Can help with the pain too if you're not adverse to pain killers? [And his brow arches in question, waiting for consent. Another novelty his crew wouldn't get under the same circumstance.]
no subject
[As he explains, he keeps a close eye on what his rescuer was doing. His knowledge of medicine was limited and even in Aether it had not advanced far from traditional techniques. Seeing the hypo left Eley feeling a tad nervous. What exactly was he going to do with that? It almost looked like a weapon in itself.]
I... am not certain what these 'pain killers' involve. Do they really work?
no subject
[It was part of his job to read those subtleties in other people and he tries to give the other a comforting look.] This is just a means of injecting the drug. No needle, no invasion, just compressed air. As for the medication, metorapan ought to do it-it relieves pain without causing unconsciousness. Some people feel a little lightheaded, dazed, a bit when they take an analgesic, maybe even a little drowsy, but compared to the pain...[He shrugs, still obviously waiting for consent. After all, its not a necessity, just a nice god damn perk.]
no subject
So finally, he gives a nod of approval.]
Very well. I will accept it.

The hands are gone immediately after that, hypo back in its spot in his kit and he's pulling out another device. And again its held up briefly before he's grabbing an arm and running the machine over one of the more painful looking burns.] Dermal regenerator. [He explains even as the machine hums quietly as it works.] Just like it sounds...regenerates abrasions and wounds on the skin. Have you as good as new in just a bit.
no subject
As the strange devices do their work, the tension in Eley's body seems to diminish. With the pain killers doing their job, he feels his body has a chance to rest properly, though even through tired eyes, he still can't keep his eyes away from the dermal regenerator.]
I have never seen magic such as this... [He comments.]
no subject
Its not. It's technology. Though this place doesn't seem to give a damn about updating its antiquated version of medical equipment. [No, he's still not pleased with the materials they have to work with at the clinic. Some of the cures seem just as painful as the disease.]
So...guess that means you're part of that magical mumbo jumbo crowd?
no subject
[Real magic, not the technology he mentioned. Even so, when you're a Spirit among humans, most of the people he would meet would probably attribute his abilities to magic, just like they did at home.]
The only magic known in my world is a gift to the Spirits... though it is only for us to do our jobs.
no subject
Conversation usually did though, and he decided to skip the bits that didn't make sense to him and cling to the one piece that did.] So, what's your job?
no subject
I am a Spirit born to govern the skies of my world. It is my job to maintain the atmosphere and manage the wind and weather. Without my presence... the world would fall into chaos.

No... this form is something that the Malnosso saw fit to give me upon arriving in Luceti. Although, we are capable of assuming a physical form ourselves, at least in my own world. I prefer to go to one in particular... I had never sought to become human in the past.
[He pauses before adding.]
Luckily, I still seem to have the power to change to this other form, though not indefinitely.
no subject
Well...human can't be all bad, hm? [Yep, that was the bit he was focusing on as he leaned back on his haunches.] Try standin' for me, let me know if anything else still hurts.
no subject
[He had come a long way since his arrival here and had more of an understanding about the emotions and rituals that made humans what they were. Yet he was still learning, and no doubt would be for many years to come.
At his request he tries to push himself to his feet again, this time finding it a lot easier despite still being a little drowsy. He flexes his arms, looking over his body as if he can't quite believe the damage had been repaired that easily.]
I am still aching somewhat, but it is not intolerable. I believe I will be fine now... thank you.
no subject
He watched him stand, eyes quietly searching for anything he missed before he hummed before packing up his tools again.]
Yeah, unfortunately it can't get rid of every damn ache and pain. But a little sufferin' is good for the soul. And, it doesn't hurt that the body still has to do a little bit or work, or it might get lazy.
Its just what I do. [He shrugged at the thanks before pushing himself back up into a standing position with a slight grunt. Age, it sucked.]
Now, you were sayin' something about this being your home? You got anywhere to stay?
no subject
At his question, for once it doesn't take long to answer.]
I have been staying with a friend lately when not at this tree. I am sure he will not mind if I go back there for a time...
[Because he's not leaving this tree unprotected for too long, not after what just happened.]
no subject
Need some help gettin' there? Ache or not, meds might make it hard to walk a straight line.
no subject
So he gives a nod.]
If you would not mind... I feel that might be a safer option.
no subject
[So he took one of Eley's arms and threw it over his shoulder, hand moving to rest over his chest for support.]
If ya don't mind leadin'.
