[As the feed begins, it's probably not difficult to tell that Eley is in another of his thoughtful moods, and is likely about to pose a question to the Lucetians once again. For even though the Spirit had learned of the concept of 'fun', there was still something that seemed to run alongside this that he hadn't quite found an understanding for. One might call it a sense of humour.]

What exactly does it mean to tell a 'joke'? And how can you tell the difference between one that is good and one that is bad?

[Action]

[Another Christmas had passed, embarrassing moments exchanged but also good, positive moments as well. Though Eley did not usually have much of a sense of time, other than the seasons coming and going, these human holidays always seemed to make the time pass much faster for him, he was finding.

That didn't mean that he wanted time to pass that quickly, however, and now Eley was trying to find a moment to sit and relax. This time, he found himself in the forest, wondering how much of it might have changed since he'd arrived after all the fighting and experiments... Saleh had shown him how to build a bonfire and despite his instinctive wariness of the fire, there had been something strangely relaxing about staring into the gently flickering flames. He didn't have Saleh's magic to make the fire with, but he could at least practice the construction. So anyone who's passing through might find him searching for large stones and tinder, or wander past a half-constructed stone circle that the Spirit had left nearby.]

Or maybe you just haven't found something funny enough!

[His smile widens, all in an attempt to cheer Eley on.]

You know you've found something funny when your laughter starts to bubble inside of you, and you just can't hold back anymore.

Hmm, well, that kinda depends. I think there's a few different kinds of funny.

[He cups his chin in his hand, taking a few seconds to think it over.]

For starters, there's the kinda laughter you get when somebody, say, trips and falls in a really weird way, and it's funny because you'd hate to be in their shoes. Then there's the kinda humor where somebody says something really clever or ironic, maybe even unexpected, and you laugh because you never thought about it before, or maybe you relate in some way. That's sorta where jokes come in.

Then there's laughter when you're just having a good time with the people you care about. Sometimes you're just so happy you can't help yourself. Uh, and I'm talking about a general "you," since I know everybody's got their own experiences.

Yeah, I'm not too big on it, but sometimes it just happens. Heck, I've tripped plenty of times and laughed at my own clumsiness.

[This was especially true during his growth spurt in Luceti. Extra height can be a pain to deal with, even if he's glad to be taller now.]

And I dunno. You can be happy without laughing-- as long as you feel good, I think that's what counts.

Sure. Nobody's perfect, and sometimes it's good to laugh at your own goof-ups. It takes a load off, and it's sure better than sulking about it.

[Ven just isn't the kinda guy who wants to mope over something as silly as tripping and dropping a tray of still-hot cookies or crashing his Glider into a waterfall during a training session or... well, a number of goofy stunts he's done over the years.]

I'd say laughter's a good thing to have, but at the end of the day, what matters more is that you feel good about yourself.
