Ah? Oh! N-Nothing is wrong, don't worry. I was just wondering if you'd like to accompany me to the cafe? [ He'll smile as he waits for the spirit to get closer. Helios will hold up the book, which is a cookbook for beginners. ]

I recall you saying that you w-weren't too confident with your cooking. So I thought we could try to make a few things today, if you'd like?

[Cooking lessons? While unexpected, Helios was right. Eley had been wanting to try to perfect his cooking for some time now and while he could bake basic goods, he hadn't much experience in anything else. Given the sheer variety of different human foods out there it was difficult to know where to start!

So he'll nod in agreement at Helios' offer.]

You are right in thinking that I know little in the way of cooking... I would be happy to learn from you. It is always better to be guided by one who knows what he is doing, I find.

[ Helios smile turns wide and bright. It was always fun spending time with the spirit and he was glad that Eley was willing to learn. ]

Wonderful I'm glad to hear it! We can stop by the cafe and use the kitchen there for practice. Is there anything in particular you'd like to learn how to cook?

Hmm, simple would no doubt be best. I have some experience in baking, but perhaps we should try different techniques. Fried foods are supposed to be something humans are fond of, are they not?

[Not that he can think of any examples, but festivals always seemed to bring warm, comforting smells from fried goods of all kinds!]

Oh yes. I don't know too many people who would pass up the opportunity for some fried. There's a load of things you could make too. I think that'll be a good place to start then! We'll go over the basics and how to make the batter, then get to the fun part.

[ Helios likes fried foods, but he doesn't normally eat them too often. ] Fried pickles. Fried ice cream. French fries. Even fried fish is delicious. You can't go wrong with frying things.

[Pickles... were something he hadn't tried yet. He couldn't really imagine how fried ice cream would work either, but hey that's what Helios was here for, right? And of course he had to ask about the one thing that stuck out to him the most.]

What is a 'French' fry? What does it mean for it be to be 'French'?

French fries are, um fried sliced potatoes. I think they got their name from how they're cooked and such. [ He had read about it once before, because he always wondered too. ]

France is a country in my world so, I guess that's where it came from. The french normally prepared their potatoes like that.

I see. That sounds simple enough.

[So France was a country in Helios' world. Eley couldn't help but start to wonder just what kind of a country it was.]

Are they easy to prepare? Perhaps you can show me how to make those at the cafe. You could also teach me more about this country along the way.

It is! Don't worry, you'll get it right away. French fries are one of the simplest foods to make from scratch.

France you mean? I can certainly tell you more about it. What would you like to know?

[Hearing that they were simple certainly bolstered Eley's own confidence in the matter. With Helios there, nothing could go wrong, right?

As for France, where should he even begin? What were the people like? What about the buildings, the music, the rituals common among the people? What about...]

Since we are on the subject, what other dishes are common among people from France? I am sure they do not live exclusively on these fries of theirs.

[ Nothing could go wrong with Helios and cooking, even if he had blown up the kitchen numerous times in the past. ]

Oh! Well, hm, there's baguettes which is a type of bread. Coq au vin, which is a chicken with wine. There's also escargot, which is snails that's very popular too. Let's see what else...ah! Crepes are rather common too. Crepes are like very thin pancakes with filling on the inside. We can probably start you off with those as well, they're not terribly hard to make.
