[Upon seeing that Saleh's on the draft list, and Ewan is not, Saleh looked through the names, looking for the people he knows. And most of them seem to be on the list as well. Since Saleh can't bring Ewan with him, he tries to find someone on his list of friends to look out for him. And then he finds the ideal candidate.]

Eleytheria? Are you available?

[Eley wasn't expecting a message, and seeing it was from Saleh made him rather curious. He might not have been going on the draft himself, but he had seen the announcement and the list of names... He was concerned. Any chance to talk to his friends before it happened was one he would take.

He nods.]

Yes, I am. Is there something I can help you with, Saleh?

Yes, actually. I have...a request. You have heard the draft announcement, have you not?

[There's a slightly awkward pause as he recalls it. It's obviously troubling him.]

Ah... yes, I have heard. You were on that list, yes? As were others I would consider friends. What would you ask of me?

Yes, I am on the draft list, as are most of my friends. However, Ewan is not. So, I wished to ask if you could look after him for me?

Generally, Ewan can take care of himself, but I would not want for him to be lonely. So you wouldn't need to do much, but just keep in touch with him?

Your student? I see... I will do my best to keep an eye on him. It is... the least I can do.

[Perhaps it would help Eley too, to have someone to talk to instead of fretting about what might happen to the others.]

Where would I be most likely to find him?

He lives with me in Community Building 5, Room 5. That would be the best place to find him.

[He nods again.] Very well. I will be sure to find him.

Saleh... have you been on a draft before? Do you know what you are doing out there?

Thank you. It will help to put my mind at ease.

Yes, I have been called on many of their drafts. The primary purpose is to do battle with the Third Party, but the locations and circumstances have been different each time.

[Do battle... there might be a tinge of anger to Eley's tone as he speaks.]

Then you are to be pawns for a war you have no investment in... Why do the Malnosso not fight their own battles, if they must battle at all? It is not fair to push us along this path after already dragging us from our homes.

[He gives a sigh, trying to calm himself.]

I am sorry... While I am no fighter, I only wish that I could be there to protect the ones I trust.

[Saleh's voice remains calm, perhaps a bit sad.]

...Many people share that sentiment. However, from what I have heard, this war will affect us in the end, whether we fight or not. Should the Third Party get through the Malnosso, they will target us next. They have a ritual which will end our lives permanently in this world. So I believe it to be better to cooperate with the Malnosso, to protect us from that fate.

[...that was something Eley wasn't aware of. That changed things. He could never condone war but... he would not want for anyone to fall to this Third Party and be taken by death either. This whole situation was hard for the Spirit to get to grips with.]

I... understand. To do this to protect the others requires a certain degree of bravery.

[He nods.]
