[It's late afternoon and Eley appears to be sitting outside somewhere on an incline just outside the village, with a full view of the sky. It's at this time that he decides to address his journal. It's been a while and a lot has happened recently that he feels he should mention...]

I would like to say a general 'welcome back' to those who have returned from the draft. To those who were injured... I hope for a swift recovery. To those who lost friends and loved ones, I hope that they will find you well when they return. They will need your aid again.

[He pauses a moment, shifting tone slightly to something more serious, slightly sad.]

While I understand the necessity of this conflict, the threat of violence still makes me uneasy. I... must ask, is war something that is common across all worlds? Have you too seen great battles and the destruction they can cause? I would like to hear your stories, if they are not too painful for you to share. I would especially like to know if you believe it possible to live in a world free from conflict.

[Eley won't be moving much from his spot today. He's in a thoughtful, almost melancholy kind of mood and finds himself watching the sky as it succumbs to darkness, the stars his only company. At least unless someone finds him sitting out here at night on their travels.

Or hears him. Because sometime during the night he'll start playing on the harmonica Rudy gave him. He's been trying to practice as best he can and while he can at least make a sound on the thing, he hasn't quite managed to string together a melody. You won't hear a particularly beautiful song then, just a series of notes that seem to be played to fit his mood. Whether or not you find it annoying or endearing is entirely up to you!]

I do. The strength to simple survive without all the extra things that humans need.

[She thinks for a moment on the idea of humans being complicated.] I suppose they are. They seem to get upset by more things and are often confusing to me.

Interesting. I can see how being human could become uncomfortable for you in that case. I am sure any animal would detest the complexities of human greed and ego...

[That might have slightly unnerved him. If this individual was fighting a war of which one condition was that her influence was to be removed from the world... didn't that mean she was somehow dangerous and despised?]

Why would they want to get rid of your influence? Who are you to them?

Demons... I keep hearing mention of them, yet I am unaware of their presence in my world. However it seems that your theory does make sense. I would hope it is not the case but... would there be any other explanation for such a sudden change?

Thinking about this makes me uneasy. I... may have to investigate further in my own world if I ever return home.

Then you would say your world is generally peaceful?

You are right... Even without people from many different worlds mingling together, there is still much to learn about this planet.

Wild animal? [No insult taken when she doesn't understand the full concept.] Are humans not animals? Are we not all looking for survival?

I cannot see any other explanation for such a sudden change. Most of the time, a human heart can gradually change, either for better or worse. Demons are not usually responsible for human behavior.

I would hope that you do. If such demons exist, it may require power like yours or any other gods to defeat them.

Don't think so, though he was made by God! I dunno how the Dragon Balls make him appear, though - I guess it's magic or something. [He never really asked during the couple of years that he spent training with God and Mr. Popo.]

Some of 'em just want to puff themselves up, I guess, and there's other people who wanna see if there's someone out there who can beat 'em! [He understands the second mentality a lot more than the first, though for most people it would be the other way around.]

To them? I'm the greatest of evils. I'm the exact opposite of their leader. They want everyone on my side gone. It's no different than our perspective of them. Neither of us wants the other to be able to exist.

... I think conflict is something that's unavoidable no matter where you are.

[He frowns, continuing.]

It isn't easy, but that doesn't mean peace is impossible. But in order to bring peace, sometimes we have to fight for it too.

[Eley considers that.]

Then do you believe that some must die to bring about this peace? That there must be a sacrifice for the right outcome to come about?

I had hoped there would be some way to solve the problem without having to resort to killing...

We've had our share of troubles, particularly when the changelings invaded the capital city of Canterlot. But that was over faster. And it was... well, cleaner. I've never seen all-out war like this! Have you?

No one would unanimously agree with the eradication of another group, regardless of what they've done. [His voice is very flat as he says as much; being in Luceti had proven that viewpoint.] Just look at this world. The cult kills people and sacrifices them, but even in Luceti people wouldn't agree about slaughtering all of them.

[That he was surprised left her with another myriad of questions – how different was his home from here that it would warrant it? She could wait for another opportunity to ask, though. What he shared were concepts most would consider common, but at the same time could be confusing to those unused to them. Especially love.

It was almost cute, the way he expressed his experiences. Which is what made his last statement all the more meaningful.] Often times, conflict can be the result of being allowed free will. Many simply haven't learned how to resolve it without resorting to that violence.

There's no safe place in my world to run to. It would be very, very difficult for someone to find a place truly free of conflict with any lasting sense, and I'm not the type to stand by and not fight when I can and someone else would have to in my place.

I would be worried if they weren't. [ Because if a country can't worry for it's next generations, then what else does it have? ]

My world was the same. It still is, in a way, but you would be surprised by what motivations can push others to banding together and working towards something. [ A beat. ] But I hope that on your world, war can be avoided in some way. Even if it seems unlikely. [ Because war is hard on everyone. ]
